Grimshaw was a man of God whose influence spread through-out  the area and beyond, with people travelling for miles to hear him preach. On occasion, a makeshift pulpit had to be erected in the graveyard to accommodate everyone. It was said that his fiery preaching could ‘make men tremble’.

Although it appears that no records of his actual sermons have survived, Paul and Faith Cook have unearthed and prepared for us a treasure trove of previously unpublished material form William Grimshaw’s own hand.  In these pages this man who was so mightily used by God shows us what is involved in living the Christian life. His words remain as powerful, evocative and challenging as when they were first written.
